Capturing FIGS Helicopter Rescue Operations

scroll to view project

Spatial was approached to help film a mountain rescue documentary commercial, requiring extensive aerial cinematography of the FIGS rescue helicopters operating in high-altitude, rugged environments.

Given the elevation, the distance needed to be covered and the dynamic nature of the shoot, we chose our Immortal Phoenix 6-Axis Helicopter Gimbal System as our primary tool.

To capture the intensity and precision of the rescue operations, we integrated the Alexa 35 and Canon Zoom lens into the Immortal Phoenix gimbal, mounted on an A-Star helicopter. This flexibility allowed us to capture the rescue team’s critical movements with clarity without interfering with their mission.

For low-altitude and ground-level aerial shots, we deployed the DJI Inspire 3, ensuring consistent visual continuity and the ability to get in tight spots the Immortal helicopter system could not.

This pairing of the Immortal Phoenix and Inspire 3 gave us the perfect balance between high speed aerial coverage and close-range maneuverability, making it the ideal solution for this complex mountain rescue filming.
